Tenbone Houjicha - Suzume
Mocha. Dried Apricot. Applewood. Light Roast.
Looks like sticks? That’s because it is! Tenbone is tea made from the roasted stems of tencha, the tea grown to become matcha. This is what remains after separating the sweet, tender tencha leaf from the tougher part of the plant; “tencha no hone”, or “the bones of tencha”, and “Suzume” meaning “sparrow”. Bones of the tea sparrow?
Whatever you want to call them, we adore these tea bones for their light sweet taste with hints of mocha and dried stone fruit. Slightly toasty, and while technically a green tea, it incredibly low in caffeine for a perfect evening sip. Try it iced this summer, and you’ll have a cup you wont soon forget.
