What’s a GABA? GABA, or "ϒ-aminobutyric acid", is a neurotransmitter said to reduce stress. GABA teas are incubated and allowed to “ferment” in an aerobic environment. This remarkable Japanese Oolong boasts staggering levels of both GABA at 420 mg/100g, and Theanine at 690 mg/100g.
I find the taste to be reminiscent of lambic funk, peppery and earthen, and has a more astringent character than other oolong I tend to enjoy. It brews quick and dark, so use a low temperature and a light, fast touch, or consider a long and slow cold infusion. This is NOT your average oolong, so treat it with care!
